The Pumpkin Patch

Of course you can’t celebrate Halloween without big round pumpkins. It rained throughout the fall making it difficult to make a trip to the Pumpkin Patch like we normally do. My boys are also getting rather big for most of the typical pumpkin patch activities. We still made our trip for some family pictures. The boys also drew their own Pumpkin Patch.

Of course the best thing to have when talking about pumpkins is a nice homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte. We used this recipe which makes 2 servings. We doubled it to make 4.

2cups of milk
2tbs pumpkin puree
1-3tbs sugar (depending on how sweet you like it)
1tbs vanilla extract
1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/2 cup hot strong coffee
whipped cream for serving

Begin by heating the milk, sugar, and pumpkin puree in a sauce pan over md heat. Heat until hot but do not boil. Remove from heat and whisk in vanilla, pumpkin pie spice, and coffee. Divide the mixture and serve topped with whipped cream.

Of course we had to watch movies. There aren’t many movies that feature pumpkins as a theme. If your children are still young Spookly the Square Pumpkin may be a hit but my kids are a little old for that. There are a few episodes of Goosebumps and The Haunting Hour that feature Pumpkinheads and may appeal to older kids. The Goosebumps movies are also a hit (I mention them several times).
